Here are 3 simple questions to help you notice and make progress with your CELPIP goals this week:

1. What did I accomplish this week?
Look back at your week: what did you accomplish with your English skills?
It’s important to notice even your little victories.
A little victory could be something as simple as standing with a group of native English speakers at your break time, and actually joining in the conversation!
Or it could be something as big as finally getting that CELPIP score you were working so hard for.
The point: practice noticing what you’ve accomplished with your English. Why? Because we tend to hyper focus on what’s not going well, and ignore what’s going right.
So…let’s start noticing the things (even small ones) that went right this week. Maybe make a quick note in your journal? Can you notice 3 to 5 things to write down here?
I promise it will make your day when you actually begin seeing what you’ve been accomplishing!
2. What are you working on now?
Staying focused is tough. I struggle with this too. But try writing down a small list of 3 things you are working on today and this week with your CELPIP or general English practice.
Keep the list small so that it’s doable.
And most important: keep the list mobile – make sure you can see it wherever you are so you can always be reminding yourself of your goals for the week.
Keeping a small set of goals front and centre will help you stay on target even in the middle of a crazy busy week.
3. What are you stretching for next week?
Stretch goals. What are one or two things you could do next week that would challenge your comfort zone with English? Write them down. Then when next week begins, pull them into your ‘what are you working on now’ list.
Making a practice of stretching your skills a little beyond your comfort zone is a vital part of making progress with your English fluency.
It’s easy to fall into ruts or routines that become comfortable. The same is true with your English. Always be challenging yourself just a little to keep your skills growing. Maybe this can help you do think about what to focus on next.
